Is it possible to selectively pass connections through VPN?

April 12th, 2014

Hi everyone
I have been trying to find a way to selectively pass connections through VPN but so far haven’t found a way.
Certain sites (ie some filehosts, imagehosts etc) are blocked were I am. I use proxy servers in conjunction with Foxyproxy to selectively pass these through proxies.
I do not wish to go through proxies for ALL my connections for the reasons of speed and security.
I can get a VPN account but…..is there a way to the same as above with a VPN connection?
As an example, I have WBB & megaupload tabs open in my browser. Now, I get WBB directly but pass MU through a proxy, at the same time. Would I be able to do same with a VPN?
Or another example, I get WBB directly but for images on the pages that are hosted elsewhere, I often have to pass them through proxies (otherwise they won’t load since they are blocked).
Thank you in advance for any help

No,You cannot selectively use a VPN only for particular sites,It’s like a secondary ISP.
There are two solutions to this problem:
1. While a proxy is enabled,Get into tools>options>advanced>network>settings and add the sites you don’t
want proxied to the “no proxy for” field,You only need to this once,It’d remember it.
2. Use the portable version of Firefox in addition only for proxy usage.

Thank you Roberto
That is what I do…and have been doing (I set them in foxyproxy)
I dont have a problem with setting up with proxies
I only wanted to know if there was a way to do the same with a VPN (pass some connections through VPN and some not, at the same time)

Well. To split some traffic through a VPN you need to specify an IP range to pass through the VPN tunnel. If you wanted to go through the trouble, you could specify the IP’s/Ranges of the sites you wanted to access via the VPN in your connection properties.
Answer #4
You are mistaken,That is not possible.
