IPod is disabled.

July 28th, 2013

I recently brought a 32gb ipod touch off craigslist.
He told me it was disabled, so he’d give me a deal.
Now I’m stuck.
When I turn on the ipod it says ‘Ipod is disabled. try again in 22million minutes.’
I tried to restore it or put it in DFU mode but it won’t shut off. I hold the power button and the home button but the screen just goes black and when i let go i get the disabled screen again.
Does anyone know a fix?
Any help is very appreciated.

Tried normal restore?! Just run iTunes and click on RESTORE (wait to download IPSW and it will start restore)!
Answer #2
when i plug it in i get an error from itunes saying ‘iTunes could not connect to the “iPod touch” because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes’

so I can't get into recovery mode either.

Oh that is something else.. BTW that is also stolen iPod Touch!
Anyway, you can go in DFU mode using iReb and then SHIFT+Restore and add latest IPSW (dunno what model you have there) and it will restore it!

I assumed it was stolen considering how low he was selling it for.
I tried using iReb but it just tells me ‘You Failed to enter DFU. Please try again.’
I’ve tried it multiple times with no success.
@Raj
I tried that method, but I can’t get my ipod to shut down. It just stays at the ipod disabled screen or sleeps, but doesn’t shut down.

I’m doing exactly what i’m instructed to do.
the only thing is my iPod will not power down. it stays at the disabled screen. even when holding down the home and power button it goes black, and when I let go it goes back to the disabled screen.

Press and hold power and home button together for 25 seconds… and it will do HARD RESET.. maybe that will help!
And then no need for turning it down (power off), do this
Power and HOME for 10 seconds
Release Power and keep holding HOME for another 25 seconds, and it should go in DFU…

I’ve tried both methods and nothing.
the ipod just keeps ending up at the disabled screen.
it’s the 3rd gen if it matters at all.

BLACK SCREEN = DFU Mode
