IPhone question

August 4th, 2013

So, I’m selling my iPhone 3G tomorrow and updated from firware 3.x to 4.x
so now it asks to insert a sim to activate and it is in English instead of my native language, can I safely assume that all my data has been removed?

Answer #1
By updating if you meant restoring then you’re good to go.
Answer #2
If you “UPDATED” from 3.x to 4.x, then your stuff will probably be still on the phone.
You need to RESTORE it to ensure that it’s a fully wiped.
I updated my GF’s iphone from 4.x to 5.x yesterday, it also gave me the options to set up my location settings etc etc, but once I done that, all the info (contacts / pictures etc) were still on the phone.
Answer #3
Update and Restore are not the same…
I would suggest you to download IPSW and to RESTORE (SHIFT+Restore) and then all your data will be removed!
Restore = Format
Update = Update
Cheers!
Answer #4
Yeah, it was a restore that I did
Answer #5
zikko replied: Yeah, it was a restore that I did
