Internet modem is not connecting.

September 7th, 2023

i am using an internet modem. when i click “connect” it connects instantly and when i try to access internet then it suddenly disconnects itself. at first i thought it may be happening due to server or other issue. but then i talk to customer care of my internet provider they said, there is virus inside it or in the PC. can anyone tell me how to solve it??
is it even possible to have virus inside an internet modem?
please help me solving this issue step by step.

Answer #1
I doubt that…
Waht sort of modem U have ? Direct Cable ??
Try unplugging Modem completley… turn off computer.
Wait 5min or so.. turn on computer.. plug in the modem ( see if it finds it)
start internet… Not work ? need what OS u are on.
ED: well for a start.. I would never use what u use..
As for the connection.. do U have an Icon on the bottom right( show hidden icons) or network
Access.. right click.. network acces… hit trouble shoot as your connected

My ISP, when I connect, I have to wait up to an hour for it to connect properly at the exchange etc and get my static IP’s back.
Your ISP check should be able to monitor the line whilst you are connecting to test the line and know what is wrong.
OOps – you talking about a dongle, that is just like a flash drive of course it can carry a virus. Get them to change that for you, and use a decent commercial anti-virus software to cleanup your own pc.
Answer #4

means, the customer care people will fix this issue??? they said there is a virus in my PC. and i dont want to format my PC. so what to do now?
Answer #5
Exactly what I said in my post earlier – get them to change the dongle.

A good quality surge protected gang socket would solve that problem.

no, high voltage electricity came from the internet line. it burnt CPU, motherboard. but monitor was fine.

i will try to do this…
but what i did yesterday, clicked “my computer”>”manage”> “device manager”> uninstalled “universal serial bus controller”> installed it again.
this way i just extended the disconnection time. that means, now it disconnects 2/3/4 hrs later. but still this can not happen. i talked with the mobile operator they said, there might be a problem in the base station. they also said they will solve it. but customer care people are saying the problem is in my PC. that’s why i’m confused.
but i will try ur suggestion.
