I am wirelessly connected upstaires, along with a phone, psp, xbox, wii..
My computer, about once/twice a day will disconnect, and refuse to re connect untill i reset the router…Which is a PITA!!
All other devices work correctly…
Am i correct in thinking i have a duff wireless card?
Any help appreciated.
Does it do it after prolonged periods of inactivty, or just randomly? Check in the power options, and go to the wireless section to see what performance level it’s set to. It might be powering the device down for power savings, and not kicking back in properly. If all your other stuff is fine, then it might be worth buying a new one to test with.
Could also be a ISP problem. If it’s not what said, then you should call them and ask for support.
Haha, I have recently had problems with my HomeHub losing broadband service. It seems to happen whenever the phone is answered or in use. See if that is the problem with yours as well.
I have a little conspiracy theory, that BT are purposely making their service bad to force people to upgrade to BT Infinity when it comes out. Either that, or they are just having problems with the network as they are updating loads of the cabinets to take fiber optics.
Its random…
What would be a new good one to buy??

Phoned them, she said the connection was fine, she was about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

I’ve heard quite good stuff about the Belkin N adaptors, they seem to get decent reviews.

Thanks, would that be compatible with a bt home hub black? I’m useless with networking!!!
I found an overclockers one for 18…
It goes up to “n” security or speed whatever it is..
On my hub settings it says its b/g/n …?? thanks
Check your router stats on the routers webpage.
Then get RouterStats Lite and log what happens to see if there is an increase in line noise which might be causing the issue.

I’ve just downloaded it, and it doesnt have my router!!??
RouterStat/Lite only supports a few routers, but can be made to work with others if manually setup to do so. It doesn’t support mine but I managed to get it working.
There are some annoying bugs in it though which means it has to be re-setup each time it is ran. It gets the Adjacent text wrong if there are spaces in it. So spaces need to be inserted every time it is started.
Could you explain how i set it up manually plz?
I am now downloading JDownloader, and its downloading at 4kb/s… any ideas???

I always found the mirrors for JDownloader to be slow, what’s it like at Speedtest.net?

Download 3.14mb/s, in reality, it never ever ever gets near that, rarely a 1/6 of it.
