intel Q6600 + nvidia 8800GT = Bad?
August 1st, 2016
I bought myself a new computer a while ago, and after playing some games, I really doubt the speed of the quad core processors like the Q6600. Games like Crysis, that are optimized to work with quad cores, really play well. On the other hand, ‘non-optimized’ games (Counter Strike, Call Of Duty, …) suck on my computer.
I started searching for answers, but couldn’t find a thing. So what do you guys think? Is it the combination Q6600 + a geforce 8800GT? I have the latest driver for my videocard.
Specs:
Gigabyte P35 DQ6 motherboard
4GB RAM
intel core 2 quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz (OC’d to 2.8 Ghz now, to see if that would help)
XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition
…
Thanks
There are no games that support quad core processors yet.
There is dual core support in games though.
well make sure that you have for everything the latest drivers so also for your motherboard.
and what is suck in your opinion then. what are the framerates you are getting?
I have all the latest drivers. I will look for the framerate I get on COD4 in a moment. thnx
sounds like you either havnt updated n patched everything up which i found helps a lot, and also you havnt set your cpu affinities, so basically all your programs are running off one or two of your cores leaving two unused, try googling for a program called get and set affinity, its free and auto sets your programs to the least used cores, works a treat for me and i have basically the same system but with an asus board n my framerates in css can be above 200
I just played Call Of Duty 4 and I reach 50 max overall, but when I sprint or there are many explosions … I only get 8 fps
will try the program, thx
So what it does is that it activates all cores? Or am I wrong?
Edit: OMG you’re amazing! my comp is now running very smoothly! thx for helping me out!
k… having a little problem here …
I just ran 3DMark06 and I only get 9609 points !? Why can’t I find the reason? If I compare to other comps with the same specs, they always have more points not happy at all
solution?
i played cod 5 on same computer no problems at all also i played that game on high details so everything must work just fine

Not true. The only ones I can think of are Crysis and Supreme Commander.
