8800GT driver support problem

August 5th, 2016

I was trying to install the newest GeForce Release 178.24 WHQL drivers for 8 series, but I ran into a problem.
When I rebooted the computer, the display went to default drive (low resolution, blurry colors), and when I went to Properties>settings, I got a message saying it could not run the newest version of the drivers, because those drivers were meant for previous version of windows. I managed to do a “roll back driver”, so I restored it to a previous version. Tho I triple-checked, I’m positive I downloaded drivers for XP, and I’m running an XP pro edition. Please help!
