Intel Q6600 MoBo
January 24th, 2020
I’m looking for a Motherboard that would overclock the Q6600 to 3.6Ghz which I have heard of being done, but I cannot find which Motherboards can handle this overclocking. If possible I would like to keep the price under $250.
$250 in what currency.. I’m guessing usa..
Try gigabyte – nearly all their new middle to upper end boards will OC the 6600 well.. I use a dq6, my old man uses a ds3 (dr3?? can’t ‘member name now..) – they all went well.
very reliable boards, gigabyte are.
You don’t need an expensive motherboard in order to clock a Q6600 up that high, Q6600’s are very easy overclockers and can hit 3.6 easy. I have an Asus P5K premium with a Q6600 and have gotten it up to 4.0 on air ( Temps were pretty high because im on AIR but I wanted to see how high I could get ) so I usually keep my Q6600 at 2.8 since stock speed was fast enough for me 2.8 is perfect. I bought my motherboard for about $180 on Newegg brand new, they discontinued selling it on the Egg though not sure why but I love it .
My heatsink for the CPU is a Xigmatek HD 1283 , I would have gotten the TRUE but it would be touching my sidepanel on my 900 if I did. The TRUE only beats my cooler by around 3 degrees its not that big of a deal.
hows the
GA-EP45-DS3L ?
I’m not to good with Motherboards at the moment, however im fine with everything else lol.
well that mobo could do fine. I mean my EP35C DS3R can get it pretty high easily. Though overclocking to higher means you need a better cpu cooler and thermalpaste
Im getting an Arctic Square as the heatsink, and of course I will get some good thermal paste
