Installed windows 7 and now wifi doesnt work.

August 1st, 2016

I just recently installed windows 7 on my laptop and now my wifi isnt working.. i assumed I just needed to install drivers.. I downloaded and installed it from here.

And wireless isnt even showing up under network settings in device manager. See picture below

Hope someone can help me with this problem… laptop without wifi sucks!

Did you download a tweaked version of windows 7? Some of these tweaked versions have wireless media center etc… things disabled

This would be good to know.. Your version of 7 is fine. I would have installed ultimate if I were you not sure if you did or not. I saw it has them all started premium etc…

Thats your wireless network card. click on it and unistall it. Then reboot 7 should find your card and the driver.

Are you 100% sure you selected the correct model on gateway’s site?

The best way is to use the driver of the manufacturer rather then the default driver of windows 7.

Go to the laptop manufactures website. Locate your type of computer and download the necessary wireless driver.

If you would have read the first post you would’ve know he already did.
Whether he picked the correct model or not is another story
as the driver doesn’t appear to be working.

Open up your laptop and get the exact make/model number off of the card itself. I had a headache of at time trying to coordinate my wifi drivers from Dells site with them giving a dozen different models for my specific product code.

It sounds like this is just a matter of picking the right driver in the manufacturer site

You should use Everest Ultimate Edition, to check what Model is ur Wifi card.
