If My TV won’t play a file with a DTS audio can I get rid of

it? Or select another audio track somehow?

If the file has another audio track, yes, otherwise no.

If you have an HD mkv file with only DTS audio, it is very easy to convert the audio into a AC3 track using megui. Just use the hd streams extracter tool to extract the video and audio (select extract as AC3) and then use the mkv muxing tool to put it back together again. Takes probably between 10 to 30 minutes depending on how good your computer is.
