I want to buy an internal 1TB HDD
August 5th, 2016
I have a 1TB Western Digital Elements drive that I like so I’ve decided to go with Western Digital again. A year since I got my external 1TB drive I was hoping I’d be buying atleast a 2TB internal drive but they still seem too pricey. Everythings crammed on my external drive leaving it with only 400gb free space and its just gonna be the same with the internal one as well.
My current internal harddrive can be really loud (320gb Seagate ST3320820AS), even with two big rubber noise isolators either side of it. Automatic Acoustic Management is not supported with this drive so I can’t set it to low using WinAAM to make it quieter.
But I read a reviews on the WD Caviar Black and they say that the HD noise is a lot quieter than it normally is when turning on AAM. I just don’t want to be stuck with another loud HDD.
Samsung spinpoint F3 faster drive and nice and quiet.

Thanks, did some research on the F3 drive. Just ordered one.
Is it ok to create 3 partitions on it using gparted? 1 for xp (15gb), another for windows 7(15gb) then the final one for all my stuff.
Also how long would it take to do a full format when I first install windows xp? I want to check the drive for bad sectors before I properly get started with it.
