i need a 2nd burner, after some advice
August 4th, 2016
i have 1 ide port in my pc and 2 sata
the ide has the master taken by my 115D but the slave is empty
the sata ports are both taken, 1 by a 160gb hdd that runs windows, holds files ect. the 2nd has a 1tb hdd full of ISO’s.
i also have my via sata card which has 2 spare ports internaly and 1 of them has my cable for flashing drives on.
my question is, what would be my best move, 1 more ide so they share the chanel or a sata running from my VIA card.
any help apreciated, need to buy 1 tmoz realy
How many IDE connectors on your motherboard…1 or 2?
If you got one IDE port and one drive connected to it shouldn’t there be a spare connection on the IDE ribbon?
I think he have a DVD writer connected to the the primary master and slave…Just wondering about the motherboard side of it…The secondary master and slave….
Well he said but the slave is empty
yea the mobo has 1 ide port and the master has 1 burner on and an empty slave. i had 2 burners on it before but the 2nd didnt like working very well with the other conected too.
im thinking of getting the samsung SH-S223Q sata drive and having it conected to my sata card, its aparantly the fastest dual layer burner and ive always like d the quality of samsung products
would i encounter any problems with it running off a pci sata card?
but the slave is empty
hahaa..Too much to read..I must of missed that…

missed that 1
samsung SH-S223Q
got one of these, very good drive
and SATA is the way to go as the 2 IDE drives would battle for bandwidth as I assume you want to burn with both at the same time
would i encounter any problems with it running off a pci sata card?
no problems that I know of
yea, i have a lot of stuff to burn and 1 just isnt enough anymore so need 2 at a time.
thanks mate, big help
if i do run into a problem i supose i could move the 1tb hdd with my 360 games on to my pci card, i know it works as when i 1st got it i needed to use the pci card to move the files from 500gb to 1tb
You should get another Pioneer DVD burner, get DVR-117.
Pioneer has proven to have good burn results shown by benchmarks.
my 115d has proven to be very good, then i had a 116d for a while and it was a let down. i have heard very good things about that samsung though and aparantly it is the fastest dual layer burner on the market atm and i do have faith in samsung products. think its just personal preferance realy, i always have liked their products
no its just for a few people that i flashed drives for, its just 1 of them just asked for like 80 games lol. no markets, not that silly
