How to play downloaded games on PS3? Do i need to jailbreak?

I’m new to the whole console gaming scene and i’m wondering if you need to jailbreak your ps3 in order to play these games on your ps3 console. I read somewhere that if you did jailbreak you won’t be able to play games like call of duty online, is that true even if you BOUGHT the game? is there any way to play these amazing games without jailbreak, coz i don’t want to jailbreak it if i can’t easily restore it to original state (like in ipod touch).

It’s not reversable. You’ll need to buy a new PS3 if you want to play online without getting banned.

Well…I guess I won’t be doing that either! Gran Turismo 5 must be played online! Whether it come out on 11/02/2010 or 11/02/2056!

It’s completely reversible. The exploit needs to be ran each time the console is started. If it’s not loaded, the console isn’t “jailbroken”.
If you want to update (to play online) it’ll stop the exploit from working. In the future, they’ll probably find a way to circumvent it. It’s probably worth holding off, especially since CoD is absolutely terribad online.

umm so which is it? On the instructions that i read it says its not reversible. It sounds like a good idea to jailbreak one ps3 and play pirated games and buy a separate console to play online, but i can’t afford to do that right now thats why i want to make sure…
