How to bypass bitlocker encryption

May 28th, 2014

Hello All, My friend unknowingly locked his external hard drive with Bitlocker. Even though he has the Key for it. But whenever he enters it , all it says is the key is wrong. Is there any way to fix this or any way to extract the data ?

Was he drunk or something? It’s beyond me how can anyone use BL “unknowingly”

If he saved or printed the recovery key when he encrypted it then there’s hope,If not then it’s a total loss.

lol – I spent absolutely ages with a truecrypted folder I made then forgot the password. Will never make that mistake again. Unfortunetly their is no way around it.

Do you know what encryption is? You cannot bypass encryption!

The conclusion being? He’s got the wrong key. In that case, I’d rather trust bitlocker than the user…

Agreed with Roberto400, nothing can be done. If he has/remembers the recovery password or key then there is still hope.
@Roberto400 Unfortunately there are quite a few people who lock their drives through BIOS or some kind of encryption software and forget the unlock codes!

None. But there is one guy who claims that his 5 years old kid did it (BIOS lock). Its probably a fake story.

Hi Guys,
I agree with your answers, but there is way to recover the data from the bitlocker encrypted partition it seems. Try to user Passware Kit Forensic tool.
