Full Disk Encryption

April 6th, 2019

I would like to encrypt my entire PC and external hard drives. What free open source software should I use for my computer? Anything NSA/hacker/theft proof is what I’m looking for. My PC has BitLocker though since it’s owned by Microsoft, I doubt it’s NSA proof.

Not sure these days if anything is really NSA proof.

TrueCrypt is what ur looking for. basically when you have a HD with i.e. 50gb you can turn that into an “encrypted container with size of 50gb” (you can choose encryption yourself). When you put into that “encrypted container” another “encrypted container” it is supossed to be really really strong… I read somewhere that when you have an 256-bit encryption and 1 million computer and each computer would try 1 million different combinations per second it would take 3,74x1057years to try all combinations (and find the password) – and when you have 2 containers it should take (3,74x1057years)x2 <– I´m rly no expert – this is just what I read..

, I’m starting to wonder that myself.
, TrueCrpyt is defunct last time I checked. Since May they’ve told users to use BitLocker.
Any other suggestions?

Ha, that one link, for a few hours, sent me down a rabbit hole of TrueCrypt conspiracies and alternatives. Which there seem to be very..very few. Is there nothing safe from the ~ Kiss Me ~ government?
