Reboot and enter bios by constantly hitting DELETE or F2 and from
there set boot device priority right,Set your optical (CD/DVD drive)
as the first device,Also look for an SATA settings and set it to IDE mode
or turn off raid,When all done just save & exit.
I don’t understand the part “and from there set boot device priority right,” does he mean set boot device priority correctly? or what?
I did the part where you put the optical drive to the 1st devie
but I don’t know what he meant when he said “Also look for an SATA settings and set it to IDE mode or turn off raid”
how do I do this?
I burned the ISO file onto a CD-R and booted it and nothing came up only the drive and it showed the ISO file in it .. I used daemon tools lite and mounted the image… and a window came up and I clicked setup or something and then when I clicked Install XP it said “Setup cannot continue because the version of windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD”
so please help ! Thanks
Yes he means setting the CD to be the first boot device.
It sounds as though you’re trying to re-install windows on top of an existing installation.
You will need to remove that existing installation, having first backed up whatever data you might have on there.
It also sounds as though you might have burned your installation disk by simply copying the ISO onto it.
The correct way to burn an ISO is to use an application designed for the purpose, such as magic iso.
ok I will try it thanks !
if you acces BIOS, you search where, all devices that are used to mount something like USB, HDrive, CD/DVD , are listed.
You have to use the keyboard’s arrows, go to cd (you have to used a real CD) and press + a few times to set it on top.
reboot with your CD
I donno what the other thing means, but give it a try with what i said
nice thanks
you cannot set up an OS from a mounted image, so burning it to a CD was the correct thing to do
IMGburn is what I use to burn bootable OS’s ISO images to disk
and if you are already running XP "Also look for an SATA settings and set it to IDE mode or turn off raid"
skip this as it must already be set properly also most newer PC’s/lappy’s have a “boot menu” key (F12 on most I’ve seen) that can be used to select the CD/DVD so fiddling with the boot priority is not needed
