Hard Drive Failing?

August 4th, 2016

Hello everyone!
I bought a laptop about 3 weeks ago from BestBuy, and it worked great the first time I got it. It had windows 8 installed by default. I didn’t like Windows 8 because it was such a big change for me, so i went ahead and installed Windows 7. A few weeks passed and i decided to install Mac OS X Mountain Lion on my laptop. Stuck with OS X for a few days but it I was having so many errors and my laptop wasn’t running at “Optimal” performance. So I went ahead and installed Windows 8 since my laptop was designed for Windows 8.
Last night I shut down my laptop for the night and left it charging over night. I turn on my laptop and let some updates install. I come home a few hours later and I was greeted with a message that said “Windows Detected a hard disk problem back up your files immediately to prevent information loss.”

right away i restarted the computer to see if it was just a bug, but the message came back. No other message while booting up just that window popped up. I checked on the Disk manager and the partitions say “Healthy”. I ran check disk and there were no problems.
Right away I booted to re install Windows 8 but i was greeted with a message that said “Hard drive might be failing installing to another drive if possible” Same message with a Windows 7 disk.
I ran UBCD tools to diagnose the problems but there were no errors at all, no bad sectors or uncorrectable errors.
What can be causing this problem? Would it be that I have installed one too many OS?
Why all of the sudden when I installed updates I started to receive the message?
I have not dropped my laptop or bumped it to cause this issue because my laptop is stationary if not on my lap or I put too books underneath my laptop on the floor. (I love my laptop)
Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!

Answer #1
go to the hard drive’s website and get their diagnostic app
check and wipe the drive with it
try 7 again

Tried the Seagrave Seatool but it didn’t detect my hard drive at all. I tried to write all zeros it succeeded but still didn’t seem to do the job..

I bought a laptop about 3 weeks ago from BestBuy,
Take it back to Best Buy. If its not covered by their warrantee, it will be covered by manufacturer’s warrantee.
