Graphic tablets anyone?

August 2nd, 2016

Hey everyone
I wanna get a graphic tablet for my photoshop work. I’ve got an HP pavilion laptop, its got 2gb ram, 2.2GHz processor and an nvidia 8400. Before i go out and buy one, I just want to ask anyone who has used/is using one, is it noticably better than a mouse? personally i have no trouble photoshopping with a mouse, but i want to do the best i can. Also, i wont be buying a state-of-the-art one, so any recommended brands?
thanx guys

Well Wacom are the main brands, but you wont need one unless you paint/draw digitally. They dont really help at all with sig making or general photoshopping

Yep, Wacom are definately the leader in graphic tablets. I paid around 160 for an A5 sized Wacom Bamboo Fun about a year ago and thought it was well worth the money. However following an incident involving a soaking wet sponge and a 2 year old that tablet sadly passed away, lol Anyway my fiance decided to surprise me by buying a new one for 40 from Maplin. It wasn’t a Wacom so I must admit, I was rather sceptical at first. However I have been using it for about a month and can honestly say that there is NO difference from my old one. Well maybe 2, the fact that the LaPazz has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity which is brilliant and also the working area has 27 pre-programmed shortcut keys and 16 user defined ones. What that means is that you can open up programmes on your computer simply by touching a specific area on the tablet. So my advice to you is this. Do not go out and buy a Wacom just because everyone you ask says so. Shop around and go for the one that suits your budget. And just for the record I would definately reccomend LaPazz. Here’s a link to the one I use just to give you more of an idea of the specs you should be looking for. Happy hunting.

thanx ALOT for you reply, it really helped. I checked out that link, and that tablet looks really cool, it too is 1024 pressure levels, id buy it online but i dont trust that if you put the “secret code”, which is already given to you, the’ll cut $65 out of the 100 :::
Ill definately look out for that brand when i go out to look for one, thanx again

I have a Trust tablet, it sucks big time… I didn’t ask around about tablets before buying one : \, luckily you haven’t done the same mistake. I tried my ex-girlfriend’s Wacom Bamboo Fun about half year ago and I think that one is really really nice, tho if you’re a professional you might need the more expensive intuos line or whatever it’s called. I had a hard time drawing with it, never used for retouching tho. I say that you can’t go wrong with a Bamboo Fun, but this is my oppinion, someone might say otherwise ^^. Try one out before buying, if you get the chance. Good Luck!

ah Trust, my bro bought one of those on an ebay-like site, but it was faulty and he cant make use of it. It was actually very new, barley even used, i guess it’s a crap brand. I also wont be doing any professional work, it’s just a hobby so ill be going with a normal to good one. thanx for the advice

Yep is right. You probably won’t be using it too extensively unless you draw a lot.
Wacom is the most commonly used brand – I only have a Bamboo myself but it’s enough for me. I’ve had no problems with it so far. If you’re a real professional artist then you might want to invest in their 21 inch Cintiqs further down the track, though those are very pricey. Otherwise, just stick with the smaller models.

Answer #9

Yeah it takes one, sorry forgot to metion that. But considering how good the Tablet actually is for the price, it’s a small price to pay. The tablet itself is USB powered.
Also included in the pack is 1 spare pen + battery plus some bundled software, I cannot reccomend this tablet highly enough.
