Getting Hacked
December 21st, 2013
My Gmail / Hotmail and Facebook are all getting hacked by someone. I have done every security thing to prevent the hacker from getting in anymore. I connected everything to my phone and now i receive a text whenever he wants to change my password
My question, is there anything else i can do to further protect my self?
and
How can i find this guy? if possible that is
Good password is only solution…
And you CAN’T find him… It’s practically impossible…
you should scan your computer for viruses and remove all of them…
after that only change your password…
Strong password, like it s been said is the best solution to prevent this. Dont use the same passes for Mail/Fb. Make sure nobody gets to see what you re typing in, use a Master password in Firefox or Kasperskys Passmanager.
Those services should be unhackable, if you ave a strong password combo. However, i guess many of *them* use bruteforce attacks which are loaded with quality word lists.
Well the only optinion to get them, is you know the “hacker” and can identify some details he left. You could then contact the police and try your luck.
Most likely, you lost your Accs forever, or maybe you just changed them and you cant remember ^^
If you’re continuously getting hacked, you probably have some kind of malware sitting on your system. I’d check that out first.
As the others have already mentioned, make sure to use strong passwords. An 8-10 character long password consisting of alphanumeric and special characters is generally good enough.
Edit On a second thought,Maybe Ive gone a bit to the extreme on this,I’d think that if he still had access to your PC he would’ve find a way to get your password instead of all this bothering,You should run a scan with malware bytes,Also make a hijackthis log and post it for a followup,Just to be on the safe side,Also,Ignore such texts,It’s purely a failed attempt.
My advice,If you wanna be 100% in the clear,Follow these steps:
1. Disconnect your PC from the Internet,Either unplug the Ethernet cable or disable the Ethernet/Wireless adapter,You can do
this from either network connections or device manager (winkey+r>devmgmt.msc>network adapters)
2. Use another PC and change the passwords of all of your accounts,Also change the secret question/answer where applicable.
Alternatively,You could use a Linux LiveCD for this purpose,Such as PCLinuxOS:
http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/pclinuxos/live-cd/pclinuxos-lxde-2011.09.iso
Burn it using imgburn (and use the “write image file to disc” option),This is bootable,Means you’ll have to restart,Enter the
BIOS and modify the boot device priority (set your DVD drive as the first device)
Note: For best security,Avoid using the same password for more than one account,Same goes for secret Q/A,Also it should
not be something that’s easy to guess,Avoid using personal information as password (I.E SSN,Cell phone number,Pet name)
3. Backup your data,If your HDD is divided to 2 or more partitions,Or if you have multiple ones,Just copy it to another partition,Or an external HDD.
4. Boot from your OS disc,Format the C partition and make a fresh install.
Alternatively,If you got a laptop or a branded desktop (I.E HP,DELL) and you never manually
reinstalled your OS,Odds are that you can still use the recovery partition which will restore it to
the way you got it,But I’m unsure how this will affect secondary partitions (if any) so if you go with this option,Better back it up
onto an external HDD.
change all your passwords to a stronger password, change your protection on your pc, don’t keep your cookies on your web browser.
format ur pc and download key scramble software which encrypt ur keystroke and install it.
here is link which is free, recommended and use only mozilla firefox.

KeePass2, TrueCrypt, Firefox & don’t store any passwords into any browser period.
First of all. Dont use same password for all your services. Second of all, make sure you dont have any vira on your computer. that is also malware and such. Then remember never to show anyone your password. Third, Never login from public computer / wifi / whatnot.
If you do these, iam sure you will never be hacked again!
