Coolermaster Centurion 5’s are at $50 now. They are just as effective as Antec 900’s, but they don’t look as nice in my opinion. Everything else looks good, but I think you’d be fine to consider a Nvidia 9 series card (not really huge improvement though).
The rest is solid. I love ASUS motherboards. They are always friendly to overclocking…
I’m assuming you have an optical drive for DVDs and such already, if not, well, you forgot to add it.
Answer #2
I would get 640gb WD Black. But if you need 1tb it’s your choice.
Answer #3
Yeah i heard 1tb are slower and i probably wont use all of it. and yes i have a spare dvd burner laying around. Suggestions on smaller hdd? What is a decent looking case for a low price and good cooling?
Answer #4
Pretty nice, 1TB isn’t really needed, I am a hardcore gamer and I use 750GB 7.2k RPM and I am doing fine, that should knock the price off a bit
Answer #5
Any suggestions on a better case, 750gb hdd, and 9 series gpu?
Answer #6
I would change the case, Antec 900 is a good, solid case with more than enough cooling. Antec is a very trusted company.
Answer #7
Here are some changes I did but it exceeds $800
CASE: Antec 900 -$99.99
MOBO: Asus P5QL Pro -$86.99
CPU: Intel E8400 3.0GHz -$167.99
PSU: Corsair 450W ATX12V (12V@33a) $59.99
GPU: EVGA 260GTX -$115.00
HDD: WD Black 640GB $74.99
RAM: Corsair (2x2GB) DDR2 1066 – $54.99
Monitor: Hanns 19″ WS LCD $99.99
Total: 830.51
I switched out the GPU for a 260gtx, switched out 1TB to 640GB, switched out PSU
Answer #8
Loooks good, but spend a little more and get a GTX260 216Core, I got one and it is rockin and best bang for buck atm imo.
Answer #9
You’ll need more than 450 Watts to power a GTX 260. They are 500 Watts minimum. I’d get a 600 just to be safe.
Answer #10
How much more is the 216 core? What specs are you currently running it with?
The max resolution on the 19″ is 1440×900 so i dont wanna waste money getting a gpu that i can’t use at its full potential.

Your original PSU is great. I’m using the same one. Mines a good 1-1.5 years old, and its running a 8800GT and a Q66. That PSU’ll be perfectly fine lol.

Answer #12
Should i switch out the 8800gts for a 9800gt or a 260gtx 216 core?
Answer #13
if you can afford it, yes. switch to 260gtx
Answer #14
Antec 300 case will save you some money and it’s great for cooling, since it’s a mid you’ve gotta question the GPU size.
Answer #15
a 4870 512mb is as cheap as $125 on newegg – you could play anything on a 19″ at highest resolutions.
Spinpoint F1 is fine – just partition the c: drive to 1/3 of the allotted total space available (it will be less than 1 tb) so that only 1 platter will be spinning for you OS/boot drive so it will be faster – then use the other 2 platters for storage.
Answer #16
Here’s one I picked out if you’re interested
