Gamepad & joysticks For PC

Hey guys..
i know that i can use Gamepad for almost every recent games ..but what about the joystick ,can i use it like the gamepad or instead of it???
also which is better in gaming Gamepad or Joysticks??

That’s the best one. Else get a Microsoft 360 controller but the D-Pads are horrendous on them.

Not that many games are for joystick, just in some racing games they can be used, but a steering wheel is better..However a joystick is a must for flight simulators..

but i read that their are some certain programs that i can use to convert keyboard buttons to joystick buttons no matter what game ??

if u have a PS3 you can use the ps3 joypad. i always use it
