FPS lags – Temperature check.

April 19th, 2014

Hey guys,
So basiclly, I have this problem with graphics. Everything goes good with using the computer, internet and everything that doesen’t really require much graphics or processor.
The problems start – when I play a game for 10 minutes or so…. It just drops down to 5-10 fps randomly and lags like sh** for the next 2 minutes, then it goes back to normal – and then again, after 10 minutes or so, same lagging.
People said – It’s overheating, and I have to say, the place where I put my PC in – is very “squashed” and not so much air goes in, but I don’t think that’s the problem, the problem could be my PC is opened (I opened it thinking more air will go in and it will cool down, but it just got dust on every part.
Tommorow i’ll clean it – but I need to know what kind of things should I buy – is Suppressed air all I really need??
I also had a run on SpeedFan with no programs opened:
This is what I got:

    GPU: 56C
    TEMP1: 28C
    TEMP2: 45C
    TEMP3: 35C
    HD0: 26C
    CORE: 21C
    CORE: 56C

Also:

    FAN1: 1962rpm

Get a can of compressed air (duster) and you might need to take your HSF off to get a good cleaning so you should grab a tube of thermal paste if you don’t have any.

Weird looking temps with no lables. Go download HWMonitor, and take a screen shot of it when your computer starts lagging.

Theres no way to catch the computer when it lags IG. I wound’t catch it – it only goes on for like 10-15 seconds, I woundt alt-tab that quick with such lag.
Anyways – with a game on for 10 minutes is good enough?
Answer #3
Yup i would advise you to have a look at your computer and make sure that airflow isnt distrupted by cables / dust Make sure the heatsink it firmly attached I would download HWmonitor too as i personally think its a bit better than speed fan :/

The screenshot with only Google Chrome opened:

You have a pretty old setup…the CPU and mobo temps aren’t out of the ordinary, but the video card is a little high for just being idle.

This is after playing 10 minutes of CSS.
btw. What do you mean by old setup?
Answer #7
You don’t know what old means?
…and damn, 110’C for the video card? That’s clearly the problem.
Answer #8
I don’t know what you mean by setup. I guess computer specs? (Graphic card etc.)
And yes, I know 110C is a lot lol. Any help? Tommorow ill get suprresed air for that, and in addition – ill close it up and take it out of the “shelf” so maybe no more dust will get in and more air flowage will be there.
Answer #9
You sure the card’s fan is working?
Answer #10
Wow, I’m amazed how your system hasn’t crashed yet.
There only thing you can do (cause those temps are crazy) is to rearrange your power supply wires and vacuum out your fans and PC. You might also want to reapply the thermal compound on both your GPU and CPU.
I had a computer with similar overheating problems, cleaned everything and now it runs 20 degrees cooler on average.
Answer #11
I have like thousand wires messed up together beside the computer, could that be a problem also?
Answer #12
Wow i am amazing it hasnt broke that is hot!
Answer #13
take your graphics card to pieces and clean it. should lower it alot and your probably gunna need thermal paste aswell
