Flash 360 help?

just bought my 360 off a friend as my old one broke. im not sure what year etc it is, but it has a lite on drive (not sure which one, as i dont know where to check).
ive also heard that ixtreme (or whatever its called) is out of date now and replaced with something else.
just wondering if anyone has a VERY basic kind of tutorial for me to flash this xbox of mines.

thanks, i had an old version of that years ago but i never got round to doing it, some of this stuff is still over my head.

quick question about this….it talks about SATA connections but i cant see anywhere in the tutorial where it mentions opening the xbox and making these connections. does anyone know where i can get this info?
google has lots of links but i dont know which are reliable or not and id rather get the info from people tat know this stuff than just a random website.
also, it mentions downloading the files from all the usuall places….ive no idea what these are either

just doing a quick read onnline there. seems jtag is a better idea with this xdg3 disk thing, any idea on that?
