Facr Cry 2 problem

Hi,
I am having having trouble trying to get far cry 2 to play.
I downloaded it and extracted it. No install required.
Now when i try to launch the game it says
this application has failed to start because d3dx9_38.dll was not found. Re-installing the game may fix this problem.
I have directx 9.0c installed
Any ideas?

you didn’t install the game? how was “no install required”?

I had that same problem on my old computer. I just searched up d3dx9_38.dll on google and the first website was a free download of the file, here:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_38
Download it and then put it into system32 or whereever it says in the readme.
NOTE:
I dont know if it works. I havent had the chance to try it on my old computer, I’m busy playing it on my new one.

How did you do that ? You didn’t install the game? But if you don’t install the game, then the game CAN NOT find the installed files on your harddisk. Try installing it first because during installation more files will be extracted. That might solve your problem.
