This is an issue seen in both Windows 7 and VISTA and Microsoft has a “Microsoft Fix it 50470” that can resolve this issue for you on there website, or you can try the following below.
Exit all Windows-based programs.
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click one of the following registry subkeys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

Well I got my mouse to work again by reinstalling the mouse driver. I tried the above method but it still giving me errors.
try putting your system back a couple of days to when it was working and see if that helps.
Just to clarify on the above, TheGreatKali means you should use system restore.
