dual monitor help

Is there a way i can switch between monitors while playing a game that does not allow me to leave one monitor or possibly have 2 independent monitors on the same computer with out making them clones?

The Fireware Nvidia or Ati video cards come with have options for dual monitor set-up. play around with the settings.
