Dual-Boot Vista And Custom Xp

January 28th, 2020

Ok here is the deal im am trying to get my Acer Pc to dual boot Vist And a Cutom xp that i found that looks awesome. The main reason im trying to do this is my pc didnt come with a vista disk so i dont want to completely rip out my vista. Also the fact that vista has a fair amount of helpful and powerful features. But for gaming it just makes everything drag on my pc since its not a top of the line pc but its good enough for some gaming. I’m running Vist Home Premium currently as my main OS And im Downloading http://www.google.com?t=845847&start=0
that OS and im going to be using it for my gaming.
I understand i could just make a vista disk and im planning on doing that in the future and maybe getting rid of my vista i just want to get some help on actually doing this. I looked up some topics and they all partained to dual-boot’s using vista and xp or ubuntu(a linux distro) and xp etc… But none actually addressed the problem of using a modified xp with vista and i hope someone has some information on that topic specifically
also i could use a little help on the topic of drivers. As when i baught this pc from best buy it came with absolutely no cd’s so if someone knows of a way to make a disk of all teh drivers i would need or somehow find all teh drivers that i would need it would be awesome.

Install Everest ……….. it will give you all the details of the innards of your PC.
Then goto the manufacturers site of all your hardware and download XP drivers (do this before you do anything because if you can’t get XP drivers for your hardware then you can’t install XP.)
Installing a dual boot custom version of XP is no different to installing a normal version. You need another partition to install it to.
Anyway, check for the XP drivers first and when you have these safely stored you can think about installing XP itself.

OMG I’m doing the exact same thing on my Dad’s new PC, his is and acer aswell. I installed a custom XP and it won’t boot up Vista now because XP can’t find the Vista bootstrap or something, so you’ll need a Vista disk to repair your Vista installation after you install XP. here’s a text file I copied that pretty much explains it http://~ Dead file host ~/files/78705214/dual_booting_vistaXP.txt.html Also you’ll need to download this I think to modify the boot up stuff XD http://www.download3k.com/Install-EasyBCD.html
I should of read the link above me Thats what I looked at the other day. ROFL!

Motherboard drivers for any onboard things like your sound etc.
The best way to install a dual boot is XP first then Vista second (Vista takes control of the Boot Manager) but you can install XP after Vista. There is a post somewhere on the board about this so do a search and read that first.
Anyways …. Please remember, don’t do anything untill you have all the XP drivers you need else you will have problems.
