How to dual boot (Vista + XP)!

How to make a dual boot ie,keeping vista in one partition & xp in another???Whenever i try to do so the 1st os disables ie,suppose if i installed vista in drive c: & then xp in drive d: then when system restarts in xp..no os selection menu during boot..tried vista boot pro but no help..plzz help..thanxx in advance…

you have to install the oldest OS first, so first XP, then vista

First make 2 partitions in your hd then install windows xp in 1 partition
later install vista in the 2 partition

if you have installed in the wrong order so only xp shows get and use Vistaboot pro from forum it runs in vista and xp and will restore the vista boot loader along with the os menu

it’s the exact same. Just don’t make a partition and select the location of the second OS to the second drive.
Like this:
C:/ – XP
D:/ – CD Drive
E:/ – Second Drive
So select E:/. If you don’t know what the drive letter is, install XP first onto C:/ then in XP view my computer and check their.

i told earlier also i installed vista in drive c: & then xp in drive d: both r different partitions..now wat???

try this Insert your Vista DVD and boot from it. There used to be an option of “Automated Restore” which will identify the problem and fix it.

that is the best way because the newer win would always find the older and add it to menu whilst the older when installed second will not but it can be done eiother way on different discs or partitions and I have never know boot pro to fail if both wins are fully and correctly installed and are not modded versions
I would at the state you have reached format both drives and start again (back up anything you may wish to keep )

Yes! Always. The boot loader of whatever is the newest should find it automatically on the MBR.
