Divx dvd player question.

I’m thinking of purchasing a DIVX dvd player and have a couple of questions:
1- If i burn many .avi files (that are xvid, not divx) will they play?
2-If i have many .avi files AND other non movie files ie folders of .doc’s, will it play the movies?
3- Is there any player that will play .mkv (720p) files?
4- What brand do you recommend, and how much should i expect to pay?
5- I’ve heard of the kiss 1500 player, that has networked thing, but that really isn’t a deciding factor as my setup is optimal for ‘roaming’., what do you think of the kiss player?
6- I do not have an HDMI tv, just VGA, s-video, and rgb- will this affect my viewing of mkv files?

1. yes –> DivX == XviD, XviD is the non-commecial one
2. normally yes
3. yes – there are stand-alone players like the Dvico TviX HD series or products by Tomacro.
4. there are lot of good divx-players on the market. simply don’t buy cheap-ass stuff
