AVI to dvd to divx dvd player help

January 17th, 2018

Alright basically I downloaded a Movie in an avi container. The Nfo that came with it said burn tested and it plays with standalone divx player. I have a dvd player that has the divx symbol, so I am pretty sure it plays divx.
So do I just burn the movie as a file on a dvd and it will play on my player? or will i have to do other stuff?
PS I have a Mac so OSX users suggest what programs you use. Thanks

As long as your burning software just burns it as an avi file, and doesn’t try to do any kind of conversion, it should work fine. About 90% to 95% of the avi’s I’ve burned worked fine. There are a few I’ve done that use codecs that my player won’t play. But as you said, in the nfo it said it was divx compatable, 99.9% sure you’ll have no problem. Stand alone DivX player was one of the best $40 I’ve spent. Hoping there will soon be some players that will support mkv and such.

if you have a divx player you just just burn the AVI file, or you can go the long way and use convertxtodvd. but that can also play on non divx players

If it no more than 700mb then you can use a blank CD..
With a DVD you can fit several on it..
