Convert AVI to PSP/MP4 format

I’m looking for a program that will convert AVI’s to PSP/MP4 format. A friend of mine is currently using one that works but it blows the AVI out to about 1.4 gigs once it’s converted into MP4 format! That is just huge! Is there a program I could use that will convert them but to a smaller size than the AVI and still retain good quality? Also one that will do it fairly quickly. 30 min or less would be good. Thanks!

Xilisoft Video Converter is good. You can find it on W-BB. It converts to almost every codec imaginable.

Sometimes I use this one. It will convert from AVI to many different formats> Ultra Video Converter .v4.4.0210 This app also has a selector for choosing the desired quality in graphics & also the audio quality. The few I have used all increase the overall size from an AVI format when converting to DVD format. I believe an AVI into MPEG4 format will also be increased.

I also use: Ultra DVD Creator.v2.7.0329 which can convert MPEG4 from an AVI into DVD. This app is also made by the same company as “Ultra Video Converter”. Once converted it begins the burn.

I use WinAvi converter. Speed is not what you should want; quallity>>>>>speed.

i use super, its a great program, just set output to psp, and it is generally 500mbs a movie, (the mp4s work both my psp and my ps3).
takes about 30-40 minutes for me to convert a movie (i only got 3.5gbs ram on my pc).

And what about Total Video Converter? As for fast, I don’t need it lightening fast but as I said would prefer around the 30 min mark. If it takes a bit more then ok. Just don’t want to be doing it for two hours.

I second the vote for Xvid4PSP…it works great.
A bit daunting to start with because of all its available options, but, usually going with default settings is pretty good…just open the file, choose a format, choose a save location and start the process.
