Connecting laptop with TV

January 25th, 2020

My laptop HP Elitebook 6930p has no video out, only VGA out. I can see some ports, other than VGA, but I don’t know what’s their use. In my manual, it says I have “docking connector” and “1394”. What do these do? Any chance I can connect them to my TV? (on my TV I only have scart output)
I’ve heard about VGA to SCART cable, but I’m not sure will it work? And will the quality picture be bad?
Thx

If You got the Lastest LP nowadays… You have HDMI PORT … in which you can connect your LP to TV….
I use my LP to watch movieZ on my 1080p TV rather then watching on 17 inch in lp .
If you have HDMI you can use your Tv as a display monitor
Fighting !

As he states: he has only a scart on his tv… So hdmi would not be a solution unless he uses a hdmi to scart converter box (you can’t find them everywhere…)
What you want is to make a vga to scart cable.. It will need some soldering and I hope you have an ATI card..
To keep it simple and not to hard for you the answer is: yes but not easy….

You can’t connect thru a DVD player !!!
If a DVD player has a VGA socket it is for OUTPUT not INPUT !!
Also you cannot use any cable to connect VGA to SCART unless you TV is actually equipped to accept VGA via scart…(This would be shown in the user manual for the TV)
Looks like there is not much you can do with that laptop except connect it to a monitor or TV that has VGA input..
