Connecting Laptop to TV

August 7th, 2016

Hi guys,
I have a Siemens Fujitsu amilo li 1718 laptop and a Sharp LC42XD10E TV and I’m wanting to connect them together so I can watch programmes on my TV through my laptop. I’m not the most clued up techy person out there and I have no idea what cable I need to do this?
I’d really appreciate it if anyone could help me out.
Thanks,
Dave.

This is pretty much your answer, but I’m not sure your laptop has a DVI connection, so you’d have to get a 2-way VGA cable. You could also use a HDMI cable to connect them but I doubt your laptop has a port for one of those either.
The VGA cable doesn’t transfer sound from your laptop to the TV however, you would either have to use the laptop’s speakers while watching TV, or get a simple 3.5 mm audio jack or something to connect to the TV.
