Computer starts then goes to Blue screen, will not work.

Sounds like a problem with your ATI video card, maybe drivers..

Try to boot in safe mode and remove the drivers and then re install them.

I know some of the other members have suggested re installing your OS but that should be the very last resort for when all else fails. I had the same problem some years back and stud to loose many valuable files, it took me four days to sort it all out but I got to keep all my lovely e book’s 30Gb.

I assume you’ve tried it in safe mode? (tap f8 on boot, select safe mode) – it’ll look all “zoomed” in because it’s a low resolution.
If that doesn’t work, hopefully you have access to a disk, use the guide below to get into a command prompt from the CD

Before you re-install all you need to do is boot into a Live CD (such as Ubuntu or even Win 7 PE) which will enable to view the contents of your hard drive and copy the files across to an external drive.

However, you really shouldn’t have to re-install. In XP, to get into safe mode just keep pressing the F8 key after the BIOS screen. This should enable you to correct the drivers.

I do get in safe mode.But it does the same.quickly goes to the blue screen before you able to do anything.
Another problem that I have was.2 years ago when windows 7 came out I try installing the cd an this CP never took windows7.The cp used stop downloading when the cp was about 70%.I forgot what it used to said.I have no problem on installing windows 7 on it.I have other cp that I have done and it puts all my files in oldwindows.The only problem is that this dell cp won’t take windows 7 no matter what you do to it.
This may also be a problem with hardware, loose memory or CPU it could be overheating, check fans are working properly.
It seems strange for the blue screen to appear in safe mode so may not be a driver problem after all. If you have on board graphics you can try removing the graphics card altogether and try that. Try everything first before re install.
Give the inside a clean as well, dust is the devil for components.
PS: Did you install any new software or hardware components before all this happened.
This may also be a Microsoft update problem with net framework update. Try rolling back the drivers
from safe mode if you can get into safe mode. Hope all goes well for you. we all know what it’s like to
have the blue screen of death.

Anyway about my cp i am trying to think that my problem is a little bit more complicated.I think the problem is that I have a virus.I need guiding.How and what kind of anti-virus i can used to boot up the cp.also can i piggyback the hhd in another computer as slave to see if i can get pics an other files out.Thanks again guys
Reboot from the win 7 dvd and hit shift F10. It will get you to cmd. then navigate to where the driver is and if it there delete it.

Except for he’s using XP not 7 OP. What makes you think you’ve got a virus? the BSOD is pointing towards an ATI driver. If you haven’t removed this driver yet, I’d take that as the first course of action before worrying about viruses.

Solution, you need to delete that faulty driver OP.
Try Hiren’s Boot cd..

remove your video card.. then boot in.. if no signs of BSOD then uninstall all the drivers of your video card
then search for a stable known driver of your video card provider..
