Now, for your question, you can turn off automatic restart on BSOD errors in Vista, to see what’s actually causing it.
1. Click Start button.
2. From Start menu Click Control panel.
3. In Control Panel Click the System icon.
4. In the System Window look on the Left hand side of the window and you will see a list of options. Click on the Advanced System Settings option.
5. Because Computer management requires administrative privileges you may find the User Account Control will pop up. If it does then enter the required information (if you are not the administrator) or, if you are the administrator, click the Continue button.
6. In the Advanced Settings window look for the Startup and Recovery section and then Click the Settings button.
7. In the Startup and recovery window look for the section marked System failure and remove the 'tick' mark from the 'Automatically Restart' option. Now press the OK button.
8. Finally click the OK button on the System properties Window and then close the system window.

Usually when you get a STOP error, aka BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), it will tell you exactly what caused it, etc.
Next time it happens, grab the name of what’s causing it, it should be at the top of the screen.
Enter that exact error problem in Google and you can get further help that way. What I might also recommend is, have you checked your RAM lately? Maybe one went fault.

From what I read, that’s a Vista problem. If upgrading your video drivers doesn’t work, try swapping the video card with a different one and see if you still have the problem then with vista.
As you can see here:http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=Vista+STOP+0x00000116&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g10&=Google+Search&=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&fp=1mZ_-PL2Zjc
There are plenty of people having that exact same problem, unfortunately, I couldn’t really find any help =/ Sorry.

Ok The fix: This is the only way I can play Madden08 Without Getting nvlddmkm.sys Crash (Bsod)
****Drum Roll*** Open Nvidia Control Panel Under 3D settings click " Adjust Image Settings With Preview Then Down where the Animated Nvidia Graphic is Make sure you have chosen " USE MY PREFERENCE EMPHASIZING " and move the slider to Performance click Accept Click ok.
NO MORE nvlddmkm.sys BSOD. And at what expense ? At the game looking like ~love~? yes, and at every reason of owning a High end pc. Sacrificing Quality becuase your machine get's what Nvidia calls " TDR " and the Graphics card must reset itself is such garbage. Anyway I'm so sorry to say this is the only thing that will work for me. I have also bumped the slider to Balanced and not gotten any nvlddmkm.sys BSOD but the second I move the slider to the the " Quality " setting bingo nvlddmkm.sys Blue screen of Death. Nvidia Needs to be made aware of this.
