Hello mate, It depends on which platform do you want to limit yourself. If you Choose Java, you can always enjoy the platform independance. But if you want to stick to the Windows Platform, you can always go to the Visual Basic. Visual Basic 6.0 is really simple to handle. But i think there is not that much difference between the Visual Basic 6.0 & Visual Basic 2005. Therefore to be on safer side for the future developments, you must go for the Visual Basic 2005. Also you will be benefited for the Visual Studio 2008. If you want to know about these things, Ask here or PM me. Happy Coding.

thanks a lot for your quick help man i owe you one i think that the windows platform is all i really need to be based on, so i think ill stick with vb for a while and then move onto a more advanced language as time progresses.
So do i need to download a program do write this kind of code? like is there a program called vb 6 and vb 05?? how would i be benefited with Visual Studio 08?
I’m planning on making a simple program that is compatible with all operating systems form windows 98 and above, but if not possible at least Xp and Vista.
Any suggestions for that??
thanks a lot i really appreciate your help!

Look, the Visual Basic 6.0 is the version that is released before 2K, & now the Current revolutions are going with the Visual Basic 2005 which is offcourse far better than any previous versions. And also Visual Studio 2008 are in Beta’s now… The final release date is Feb. 27, 2008. But if you want, you can try the Beta’s Also. But for the Professional Developent Purposes, Never Use Beta’s.
All these versions of the VB’s can create the Application which runs on Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP & Also Windows Vista. Cheers Mate. Best Luck!
