characters not typing, copy & paste sometimes not working

August 1st, 2016

heyal,
not sure if i asked this before but this has been happening for a few weeks and can’t find a fix for it.
suddenly when typing it happens mostly in chrome, in Windows 7 suddenly copy/paste function doesn’t work, i thought maybe it was installing microsofts keyboard mouse software because that’s when i noticed it but also installed my display drivers, but doesn’t seem likely.
as i mentioned characters not showing nor does the cursor move so the action itself is not working in chrome, what i have to do to make typing work again is pressing and holding down the windows key for a couple of seconds then i can type again weird …right? any suggestions?

Answer #1
Check what windows are opened. Do the copy and paste functions not work even when the cursor is blinking? What process are you running? In which programs does the issue appear?
Answer #2
Maybe its a faulty keyboard. Some key(s) may be pressed in the keyboard.
Open “On Screen Keyboard” (search OSK in start menu) to see any key is pressed. (Pressed keys will be marked as white).

hey and ,
am answering both ?’s in 1 post.
it will happen from browser to windows operation for instance if i copy the name of a file and paste in windows explorer to name a new directory it will sometimes fail …. happens mostly in browser, sometimes i can copy from clipboard and paste it other times it doesn’t work …it’s very very frustrating and it’s only been a recent event.
as far as faulty keyboard no i am sure it’s not that since it seems to happen more in google chrome …it does this in firefox too but more so in chrome.
i know others have had problems with wrong characters showing but not the same issue as me but their method of pressing the start menu key, i hold it for couple seconds others press it twice …not a fix it’s just a work around for the issue.
as i mentioned before it happened after i installed ms keyboard and mouse software and remembered i installed my display software …only wanted driver but it also installed a pivot program which i used years ago when i had my 1st lcd monitor …still figuring out why that happened i just “end task” after start-up.
oh i also don’t have “sticky keys” enabled and other keys aren’t stuck either when checked the osk.
does that help?
