cda, wav and mp3 format extension

i am trying to learn something here.
background- a woman returns a cd. it does not play. with my computer, i examine it. it has cda extension.
i can play it with nero showtime but not with window media player.
there are questions..
if a person uses a cd with the cda extension, what different media players plays it? boom box, cd player or other media playing devices? what are the names of those devices?
if a person comes and wants that cd. i can ask what device they are using to play/listen. if appropriate i can give it to them.
next question..
if a cd is mp3 format. it will play with all different cd’s. devices,right or wrong?
and finally
if the cd is wav format, will it play with all different cd devices?

not all players can play an mp3 cd, only specialised mp3 cd players or computers.
same with wav format i think

it does not play – in anything, not even an audio CD player (like a boom box) ?
CDA is a “link” to a (hidden) WAV file on an audio CD
the CDA link is needed for an audio CD player to see the WAV as audio file (music)

the WAV needs to be burned in “audio CD” format (which creates the CDA links) to be read in an audio CD player
