Canon powershot SX30 IS

August 23rd, 2013

To Whom it may concern
i own a Canon powershot SX30 IS
when i record for lets say 5 minutes at a concert or something i go back to review it, after waiting for it to stop saying its busy it comes back with a error ‘unknown image’
i have 10 mb SD cards 64, gig and i also have a a couple of 4 mb sd cards, not sure if thats the problem
now i havent got any of the latest firmware or updates, but id like toknow whethere there is a fix for this, what settings perhaps to have it on or whatever i do also record on best quality as well?
it’s getting very frustrating, maybe its the SD card’s im using maybe im using not the right setting, cant be the first person to ask this sort of question,
any way hope theres a bloody fix

Try updating the firmware from your regional Canon support site.
I use class 10 SDXC cards, which you really need for filming, as opposed to taking photo’s (cheaper cards will do for that).
I’m just about to go to bed, but I’ll have a read up on that camera if it’s quiet in work tomorrow, and will post back.
Hopefully others with that camera will help you in the meantime

i have trouble with the class 10 cards, they seem to create bad files…

some are reporting type / manufacturer of sd card problems
info

even if it isn’t the exact same model it is still a canon
i would definitely go after the firmware updates

Did you try updating the camera firmware ?
I forgot all about this post apologies
just for info – you can enable a few more settings on those old Powershots by using CHDK (Canon Hack Development Kits)

*Edit – one thing you could try. Backup any photos & vids off your flash card to your pc, and then format the card using the camera itself – see if that helps.

Old powershots? its only a year old LOL
but thanks any way for your help
i figured the problem out, the class 10 cards record to quick onto the camera.

A year is old for IXUS/Powershots believe me, they change models faster than I have hot meals.
Glad you figured the problem anyway
can you edit the topic title to include [solved] if you are Ok now, thx
