Cannot Set up UK VPN on my new tablet

Hi, this is driving me nuts, Ihope somebody has some advice for me. I love to watch UK television and have done so for ages – although I am not living in the UK- by simply using up one of the many free VPNs I found on the Internet. With a UK IP address then I was just able to watch numerous cool stuff on the BBC iPlayer. On my new tablet I cannot Setup a VPN the way I was used to. Under Settings – More – VPN …I can’t find any option to simply add a VPN!! The + sign to add a VPN is missing. Can Anyone tell me how to get it back?? This used to be so easy to set up this way, especially when you had to switch the VPNs because one wouldn’t work anymore.
Any help would be much appreciated.
