buying and selling electronics

August 6th, 2016

Hey everyone
I would like some advice if this is a good idea or not
Basically i dont have a lot of money to spend on gadgets and stuff, but that doesn’t mean i dont want them
Ive wasted so much money on cheap tablets, smartphones etc.. and they never did what i wanted them to do properly and broke easily making them a complete waste of money.I dont want to buy them again
I was thinking of buying some really expensive electronics, for example iphone 6 because i really need a good smartphone and using them for a while, say a year and then selling it.
If i sold it for maybe a 100 lower than what i bought it for then it would be worth it because i would have gotten use out of it the same i would have if i used a cheap 100 smartphone but i got to use all the best features and stuff.
I notice apple products hold their value very well, iphone 5s still costs a lot.
What do you guys think? is this a good strategy for using expensive things cheaply or am i going to get into problems (buying an iphone 6 and keeping it will be so expensive i cant even explain what it would mean)

I always go for the “value for money” way. What is the best I can afford at a certain price range. It always goes like this:
1. I set my needs and wishes and find products that can accomplish those, no less, no more (unless I can find more at the same price range)
2. I check reviews from credible sites and user ratings – comments from big e-stores to find out about quality – durability.
3. I check the prices from a selected list of shops I’ve chosen, ebay and my local market.
4. I then proceed to the purchase.
So for your answer… what do you need from a smartphone? Good sites to have in mind anyway:

That’s only assuming that it doesn’t break during the time you are using it
I would do a lot of research, and ensure the build quality and features are what you’re looking for
While iPhones do hold good value for a long time, it won’t be sold for only $100 less a year from now (probably $200 or more less) There are plenty of nice mid range phones that could easily last 3 years

I don’t know about your strategy. Since the iphone 6 came out, I bought a iphone 5C for $0.99 through ATT. Basically Free with 2 year contract.

yea, so you want others to subscribe to the “greater fool theory”, find a greater fool than you, to buy want you don’t want.. OK, not suggest that you are like this…however….This sounds good, but why bother, some years, it may work, others perhaps not.
If you want cutting edge, then you have to pay for it…otherwise, why not just be the guy on the otherside, and buy last years model, new from the shop, or used from somebdy else….everybody wants the newest model, even you..
To me, a phone is a throw away item these days…not expensive to get a new one, and new ones come out every month, so what do you expect to save in the long term??
I understand what your point is, but not worth the hassle for me to do this..

Why even think about all those plans. The thing is….. You dont need the latest technology phone out there. Even if you do. You probably use that phone like you did on your previous phone. Wont take advantage of those “new” features.
Do what Tooth does. Buy an new older model which is still damn good phone. For pennies.
As I always said to my family members. If things cant bring in money. You dont need the most expansive things. The next or so best thing is good enough Get the best if that bring in money.

there is a general thing for buying everything but it is especially important for tech things. if you go and buy a smartphone by a random brand which claims it has the same specs and features with respectable brand like samsung or apple , also offers 1/3 price of them , you will end up with disappointment. either these features wont work properly or operating will not be as smooth as others or it will get sooner than others. If you always do that ,in the end you will see , u spent far more money than the best product available.
choosing brand is the most important thing , just buy from any proven brand , lesser models they have if you dont have much money. almost all smart phones today can satisfy basic needs of anyone unless you dont wanna do incredible things with your phone , like texting your friends when u dive under water lol
for selling part , it is impossible to foresee future about tech stuff , u may pay 1000 today it worth 400 , 3 months later. u cant know when they release and what they release
