Building energy efficient medium performance pc

January 20th, 2020

Hi fans
I’ve been reading a lot of articles about energy effiency of computers lately:
Some examples:
ttp://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/25w-performance-pc,2551.html
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/pcs/2010/02/24/energy-efficient-hardware-investigated/
The thing is i’m buying a new pc in 3 or 4 months. I know everybody is buying a pc and wants the best performance for X dollars.
But that’s not what i am looking for.
Like the first article explained: i want a energy efficient pc cause it will be used for deskwork and casual gaming (i am 25 so i am from the generation gameplay was very important and graphics came in afterwards) So no Crysis 3 for me, I am already happy with a bit of COD in low graphics.
This is the config I have in mind:
Intel Core i3-3225 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor

Kingston KHX1600C9D3LK2/8GX

SeaSonic SSR-360GP
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ssr360gp
ASRock B75 PRO3-M
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-b75pro3m
Samsung 840 250GB Silverstone PS08B MicroATX mid tower
LG GH24N590 DVD/CD writer
I picked this ram cause it’s voltage is pretty low.
The seasonic psu is from this chart
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/230v-desktop-power-supplies/Efficiency-Low-Power-PC-25-W,2571.html
Asrock motherboard is picked from the choice of a dutch uber builder of pc with min watt usage.

The SSD is picked out of the article on tomshardware “best pick of december 2012”
The case and dvd writer are pretty random.
Maybe a more efficient cpu cooler is needed.
So guys tell me what u think. (budget 700-800 USD)

I would go for an asus mobo. They have some nice energy saving programs already embedded which can be applied to all devices.

Dont buy a pre-made PC.. i3 ? sucks Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition Processor
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core-i7-3970x_8.html#sect0
PS: U dont say how much ya willing to spend.
Invest in a purposely Parts/built screaming machine to the best specs avail.
Most are overpriced glitz and usually dont measure up in the end

First of all it isn’t premade. I’m selecting the parts by myself
Second I don’t need this kind of overkill performance.
Third please read through the whole thread.
I’m building a pc with the least power usage and I need it just for specific needs. (see first post)
