How to download from a laptop without to use to much energy?

Hello all.I have a laptop and i want to download from it RS files with IDM.The problem is that i want to download all the night without to use much power/energy.
*It’s connected with a Ethernet cable.

just use power saving mode mate . and close the monitor keeping in mind the setting of stand by “off”

there is a battery program inside your laptop , it can be configured to max performance , normal performance and power saving mode .
Power saving mod is used to save energy and keeping the battery last longer . In your position i would rather plug the AC power cable to the laptop and set my preference ( battery software ) to “power saving mod ” .
Other way is to close your monitor but you have to switch the standby option off when you close it so it wont turn off .
