BSOD when installing audio drivers.

August 5th, 2016

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 on my laptop which went great, apart from when I try and install Audio drivers. I get this BSOD after the install, which by the way didnt finish. Laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG-7D1M
But the laptop does not go to windows anymore, it just boots up and goes to the BSOD in a loop, so had to do another fresh install. It works perfectly until I start to install Audio drivers. I dont wanna have to go through this again, so Im hoping someone can shed some light onto why this is happening.
Thanks.

The Sony support site is most unhelpful when it comes to that model.
Doesn’t really want to know it at all!
Some talk about it being really a different model…but that don’t seem to help either..

If it won’t boot, try F8 to safe mode screen and try “Use last known good configuration”
Or try booting into safe mode so you can disable the sound card in Device Manager.
Or you could try a roll back if you have a suitable System Restore point.
You could then go to it’s driver update option button and let windows go online to find a driver for the sound.
Or you could install something like Driver Genius to try and find a suitable driver.

Right the strangest thing. I thought sod it ill go way back to windows xp. But i get a new bsod when installing wireless drivers now. Driver_irql_equal or something. Yet the sound drivers work on xp.
