BSOD problem.Please help!

Hi.I recently installed Max payne 3(blackbox rip)on an external 40gb hard drive.it is an old drive but works fine.the game installed fine but when i go into the game folder inside the drive my computer crashes and BSOD screen appears.It says:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
Please help.

when i go into the game folder
there may be media in that folder the PC is trying to read
try changing that folder’s “view” setting
can you do a list of what’s in there from a command prompt or can you access that folder from another PC ?
get “Hard Disk Sentinel” and double check the drive’s health

I can access the folder from command prompt.I can also access it from a Linux Live CD.Even sometimes the error does not even occur and I can run the game fine.
I will check with hard disk sentinel.

Hard disk sentinel reports the health as 99% and says as follows:
The drive tried to examine and reallocate data sector(s) 2 times.The examined data area is perfect.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not possible, only if the health drops further.
Problems occurred between the communication of the disk and the host 42 times.In case of a sudden crash or reboot it is recommended to try a different,short data cable(avoid round cables,use 80 wire standard cables instead.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly.All new problems will be logged there.

that’s probably your problem right there
warranty replacement of the disk is not possible
prob not true, if you contact the mfg thro there support website and say the disk can’t be read and it’s still in warranty they will most likely replace it
you can also try checking the disk with there diagnostic app

You pretty much always have to use the manufacturer’s app for defect detection and warranty work. Hard disk sentinel “results” are rather meaningless.
