So I want to switch from Virgin media to BT but don’t want to lose my high Internet speed, usually download with 1000+kb… BT says i can get 6.5Mb download, is this 6000kb or just 600? also, are you happy with BT?
Answer #1
6.5Mb (notice the small b) is megabits
There are 8 bits in a byte, so 6500Kb / 8 = 812.5Kb/s
Also Virgin is better
Answer #2
In broadband it all gets divided to 8 for actual “real” speed , 6500 / 8 = 812.5
