Boot Problem

October 8th, 2013

I had a laptop with windows 7(intel core2duo @2.2ghz 64 bit processor) installed in it. I screwed up its Bios, thus rendering my laptop useless. So i removed the hard disk from the laptop, got an external casing to it and then connected it to my old desktop computer which runs with windows xp sp3(intel e2180 @2.00ghz processor).
Now i started booting from usb(the laptop hard disk) but it got struck at ‘starting windows'(where four colours of windows logo rotate to form the logo. while the text under that animation says “starting windows”) instant and my then it re-starts.
The next time it re-started it asked me to repair using windows systems recovery tool and since it couldnt find any system image it didnt work too.
So is it possible to boot manually by entering in command prompt?
Or is there any other method to boot from usb which contains windows 7?

Answer #1
there are recovery disks around. try and google the recovery disk for windows 7 (32 or 64 bit, whichever architecture you got)
otherwise you may need to think about a new hd, try Hiren’s boot CD to check for any viruses or blunders that may have happened with the hd, then transfer all your files off the hd, then throw it out.
That’s obviously if u cant get it to work
Answer #2
you need to reinstall on the USB as the one there now has diff hardware drivers than the desktop
