Black screen when trying to watch a video

August 5th, 2016

As the subject says.
I can’t see the image of the film I’m trying to watch, I got all codecs installed.
Tried it in DivX player, VLC and Windows Media player 11, but none of them works, there is sound just no image?
Any idea what it can be?
Thanks
AJ

try the k-lite mega codec pack. it comes with like every codec ever and doesn’t eff with your computer.
it should cure the issue.
you can download it here..

hope it helps!
Answer #2
If you do install the latest codec pack then make sure you remove every other codec pack and standalone codec that you installed. K-Lite Mega Codec Pack has every codec you’ll need for playback and you don’t want to have duplicate codecs installed on your PC. It might create instability. Also, make sure you get absolutely the latest K-Lite Mega Codec Pack for the best results. The latest version is 3.6.5. Good luck mate ^_^
Answer #3
If that doesn’t help than the problem could simply come from the video file itself.
Answer #4
Thanks mates
: Its not the video file, tried 5 files and it does the same it them all?
But I’ll try out that k-lite mega codec pack. thanks
Answer #5

Answer #6
just go to www.divx.com n download the DivX codec install it n then play
Answer #7
get gspot, google, it’s free, and open the file/s in it and it will tell you what codec it/they are
another free option is ffdshow(google it), the play everything (almost) codec
Answer #8
u could also try CCCP, its another codec pack, but u should actually check the video first mate…

Here’s your solution. Download and install Vista Codecs Package (it’s for XP also):
http://shark007.testbox.dk/
Unlike other codecs packs, it will install only the codecs you need.
You will be able to play anything, including Flash video, in your media player.
Answer #14
Yup, installed that Vista pack and still no picture, seems like nothing is working:(
Answer #15
you have the latest drivers for your video card
1st in gspot, did it render the video, the columns of 1-2-3 in the bottom right
2nd do any videos give a pic in any player ? try adjusting overlay controls in display drivers
3rd uninstall xvid and reinstall latest version or try installing ffdshow, it’s the codec I use for almost a AVI vids

What kind of video card are you using? If it’s a NVIDIA:
1. Go to the new NVIDIA control pa.
2. Select “Video & Television.”
3. Select “Video: Adjust video color settings.”
4. Select “Correction” tab.
5. Select “Color temperature correction: Do not use color temperature correction.”
