Best designer program?

I’m looking for a program which can create pretty and nice images(high quallity), to be used on a webpage. I don’t like Photoshop, it’s abit complicated though.
You can use GIMP, that’s a good one, but there are also many photoshop alternatives on the internet that are a lot less complicated splashup.com

most widely used software for designing, do you
good with designs? any sketch?
Not at all I suck to design, pretty much anything graphical, do you have any suggestions?

It’s a open-source project that has probably the closest layout and GUI to Photoshop but only has a basic list of features so far and usually great for those who don’t use most features and tools in Photoshop.
