Best configuration for Windows 7 and browser for my demand

July 31st, 2016

Hi,
I have an old laptop.
HP Compaq 6820s
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2390 1.86GHz
Memory: 2047MB(667)
Video Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon X1350
I use Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 + last updates.
Browser: Google Chrome
95% of the time I use this laptop to watch videos here: http://www.dr.dk/tv/find-program/
The Windows has just been installed on a formatted partition. But even in this situation when I only watch the videos from the above link, they still work interrupted sometimes, and Google Chrome loads a lot the task manager.
Considering the above please answer to the next questions:
1. Which are the best optimizations for Windows 7 to help me to see those videos smoother?
2. Do you consider is there any other browser which is more dedicated and lighter for watching videos online? If no, tell me please with are the best optimizations for Google Chrome to improve it for my demand.
Thank you very much !

Answer #1
Best optimisation would be if bloody Adobe’s programmers would finally sort out Flash player. But that is not going to happen. It turned into bloated piece of s*it long time ago.

if u are able to download the video file, u could then close your browser , and any other not needed programs ,and use Windows to play the video …

Just had a look. Those videos are only 480p at best, So hardware wise, Your laptop should be able to handle it!
But I can think of a few things that would prevent smooth playback, Such as:
1. Flash player hardware acceleration settings. Try disabling/enabling it (Depending on it’s current status)
Just play a video, Right click anywhere in it, And click on settings.
2. Poor network connectivity. Video streaming requires a lot of bandwidth and low latency, So if you’re using Wireless (And getting low signal) this could very well be the cause! Try using Ethernet.
3. Excessive Memory or CPU usage. Have a look on task manager.
Generally speaking, I suggest you won’t open too many browser tabs at once.
Edit: ‘s idea is not bad! You could download em first instead of directly streaming em.
I suggest you use Internet Download Manager for this task. Just play a video and it’d give you the option to download it.

Chrome uses a lot of resources, often for no reasons whatsoever. Your rig will easily handle that site. Try using Opera first off and see what that’s like.

Yes, I got buffering problems while trying to play some of them at higher res.
